Corporate Websites

In 2000 with this very first issue of UPGRADE it became evident to the website management organisations that it was necessary to distinguish between printed publicity and presence on the Web. The client-server concept, set up in Intranet networks, opens new possibilities in the world-wide Web; new aspects, beyond the graphic presentation, must be taken into consideration. Many companies now offer services to other companies and to individual customers via the Web. The number and the diversity of these services increase every day and this trend will probably continue in the immediate future. The payment of invoices, the transmission of communications customised to the reader and the management of relationships with the client are all examples of electronic services. This issue on "Corporate Websites" offers a biased vision of the Web presence according to public and private organisations.
