The Semantic Web

The Semantic Web vision – that of a Web in which software agents can access and process web page content and automatically perform tasks that today require tedious interaction – was proposed by Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the current Web, towards the end of the last century. Since that moment, there has been a flurry of research activity in this field, and applications based on Semantic Web technologies are already beginning to appear. Interested readers are referred to “Semantic Web Challenge”.
