Reforms Needed for ICT in Education Systems

According to a recent Commission report, reforms must be introduced to enable education systems to reap the benefits of ICT.

The report assesses progress in the use of e-learning since 2000 and concludes that embedding ICT in education and training requires systemic and organisational changes and that the potential for ICT to develop a ‘learning continuum’ between formal, informal and workplace learning represents a clear opportunity.

Acknowledging that successful education depends increasingly on confident and competent use of ICT, the Commission proposes specific elements of ICT in education as priorities for its policy work with Member States.
