Mid-Year Progress Report from High-Level Expert Group on Key Enabling Technologies

The High Level Group on Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) which was launched in July 2010 recently presented its mid-term working document. The aim of this group is to develop a long-term European strategy on the industrial deployment of KETs, as part of the Europe 2020 strategy.

During the first phase of this project, working groups on each of the key enabling technologies (nano-technology, micro and nanoelectronics, advanced materials, biotechnology and photonics) were formed to analyse how their technology in the EU competes with other regions. The mid-term working document summarises these analyses, and is supported by information provided by consultations with European stakeholders.
