Horizon 2020 and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology


The Council of the European Union (EU) met in October to discuss competitiveness issues and Horizon 2020, which will replace the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) in 2014. With a proposed budget of €80 billion allocated for 2014-2020, Horizon 2020 will be the world’s largest research programme. The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) will be an integral part of Horizon 2020 and will receive a financial contribution of € 3.1 billion for the period from 2014 to 2020. Read the Competiveness Council Conclusions
