European Commission Unveils Its Digital Single Market Strategy


ECOn 6 May 2015 the European Commission presented its plans for the creation of a Digital Single Market, announced last year as one of its priorities. It aims to open up digital opportunities for people and business and enhance Europe's position as a world leader in the digital economy. The Digital Single Market Strategy sets out 16 key actions under 3 pillars, which the Commission will deliver by the end of 2016.

The third pillar of the Digital Single Market Strategy seeks to maximise the growth potential of the European Digital Economy and of its society. In order to do so it will support the advent of an inclusive digital society where citizens have the right skills to seize the opportunities of the Internet and boost their chances of getting a job.
