Tech Incubator for Women Launched in Brussels

digitalbrussellesCEPIS attended the launch of the Digital Brusselles Female Tech Incubator on 25 October. The event, which took place in the new BeCentral co-working space in the Belgian capital, saw the launch of the first female tech incubator in Europe.

The Digital Bruselles Female Tech Incubator aims to get more girls and women participating in digital society, promoting a more “inclusive digital transformation”. The event was attended by key stakeholders in the area, including Saskia Van Uffelen, Belgium’s Digital Champion and CEO of Ericsson Belux, Katja Legisa, coordinator of the Female Digital Starters Series, and Cheryl Miller, founder of the Digital Leadership Institute Brussels.

The incubator was formed in the context of a lack of inclusion of women in the present rapid digital transformation, which will see at least half a million unfilled ICT jobs by 2020. The initiative joins other actions, including the Female Digital Starters Series Workshops, career training for women, and after-school projects for girls.

More information about the event can be found on the event’s web page.
