CEN TC/428

CENThe European Committee for Standardization (CEN)’s standardization activities are steered by the CEN Technical Board (BT). Standards are prepared by Technical Committees (TCs), such as CEN/TC 428. Each TC has its own field of operation, within which a work programme of identified standards is developed and executed. TCs work on the basis of national participation by CEN Members (the National Standardization Bodies of 33 European countries). CEN/TC 428 was established to make the European e-Competence Framework (e-CF) a European standard (EN). CEPIS is a Liaison Organisation with CEN/TC 428.

The actual development of standards is undertaken by Working Groups, where experts gather to develop a draft that will become the future standard. Workshops are particularly relevant in rapidly-changing technologies that require quickly-developed specifications. They produce CEN Workshop Agreements (CWAs). The e-CF was developed by the CEN Workshop on ICT Skills, which is chaired by CEPIS.
