European Commission

EU Code Week 2018 has proven to be the most successful to date, with a total of 41,000 registered activities involving hundreds of thousands of participants, most of them in schools. More than 10% of schools in the EU and Western Balkans have participated in EU Code Week this year, matching the target set by the European Commission for 2018.

A special focus was given to participation of schools in Code Week across the European Union and the Western Balkans this year, in line with the Digital Education Action Plan of the European Commission. Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society, said that the aim is to bring Code Week to 50% of all schools by 2020.
