Ethical guidelines for AI presented by the European Commission

The European Commission presented a new report from the High-Level Expert Group on AI on 9 April. ‘Ethical Guidelines for Trustworthy AI’ was presented at an event attended by the Commissioner for the Digital Economy, Mariya Gabriel, and Commission Vice President, Andrus Ansip.

The guidelines are part of the Commission’s three-step approach to AI development: setting-out the key requirements for trustworthy AI; launching a large-scale pilot phase for feedback from stakeholders; and working on international consensus-building for human-centric AI. Today, the Commission is inviting industry, research institutes, and public authorities to test the detailed assessment list drafted by the High-Level Expert Group, which is found in the guideline-report.
