Norway creates public-private partnership to tackle IT skills shortages


A new public-private partnership in Norway has been launched to boost specialised talent in the domestic IT sector. The sector faces serious skills shortages that negatively impact its development and growth. The key aim of the initiative is to develop a strategy comprising a more tech-customised education system coupled with advanced retraining schemes and enhancing public capital support. 

This comes as a government report in 2018 raised concerns about a widening skills gap, estimating that Norway could face a shortfall of more than 4,000 experts in the niche area of IT security alone by 2030.
