Committee calls for expansion of non-EU work visas to help close digital skills gap in UK


UK’s Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) has called for an expansion of non-EU skilled work visas in order to boost the qualified workforce. The main concern evolves around the lack of digital and IT roles, including web designers and developers, IT business analysts, architects and systems designers, and programmers.

This issue was first raised by the local technology industry in 2016 when the UK voted to leave the EU, emphasising the country’s growing digital skills gapwhile urging for more home-grown IT talent.
