ITPE holds second Ethics Group meeting in Brussels


On 26 September ITPE held its second Professional Ethics Expert Group meeting in Brussels.

The meeting began with an update from the European Commission by André Richier of DG GROW, who provided an overview of recent developments in light of the new European Commission’s priorities. The session included the latest updates from CEN TC 428 Chair, Mary Cleary, who was followed by Anna Jobin of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETHZ) who presented her recent paper and review of the global initiatives related to ethics in AI.

Participants discussed the developing initiatives surrounding IT professional ethics in Spain and the Netherlands, with presenters Juan Pablo Peñarrubia (CCII) and Daniel Tijink (ECP think tank). Isaac Gil Rabadan and Montaña Rodriguez-Ovejero of Spanish tech solutions provider SATEC, gave a presentation on the daily ethical dilemmas faced in their company’s business practices.
