Number of Computer Science Students Jumps by 2.6% in Germany, Says GI

In the academic year 2014, close to 35,000 higher education students enrolled into Computer Science classes; this represents an increase of 2.6% compared to the previous year.

Although this is encouraging news, German Informatics (GI) warns that the number of young people studying Computer Science remains too low to meet the demand for skilled ICT professionals.

GI recommends that Computer Science courses should be integrated in the primary school curriculum, so as to introduce children from an early age to the technical challenges of the digital world.
