AICA Celebrates 50 Years & Researches Costs of Digital Ignorance in Italy

Founded in 1961 Associazione Italiana per l'Informatica ed il Calcolo Automatico (AICA) is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this year. An online brochure has been created listing the most important events during the society’s history. AICA have also carried out important research recently in collaboration with SDA Bocconi University, which shows that digital ignorance costs Italian local governments over €205 million. Check out the findings here (in Italian)

Some further exciting developments for AICA include organising the 24th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) in 2012 in cooperation with the Italian Ministry of Education. This year the 23rd IOI will take place in Pattaya City, Thailand on 22 – 29 July. DIDAMATICA 2011 also organised by AICA took place in May this year and offered the opportunity to discuss the increased role of IT in secondary schools curricula.
